Scottish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign will mount a protest at Aberdeen based Wood Group's AGM on Wednesday14th May 2014, against their involvement in Israel.
Delegates at the Aberdeen Trades Union Council meeting on Wed 7th May gave their full support to the SPSC protest and condemned the actions of the Wood Group, which has built a massive power station in Israel whilst Palestinians are denied their rights.
Speaking at the meeting, Dave Black of SPSC said, "The Wood Group is providing state of the art energy technology to Israel at the same time as Israel is enforcing a brutal siege on the Gaza strip. Restrictions on fuel, electricity and materials for essential maintenance mean that Gaza is forced to endure daily and lengthy blackouts, wreaking havoc on all aspects of life including health, education and sanitation.
"Wood Group plans to expand its operations in Israel to increase the company's profits while Israeli apartheid continues and the Gaza Strip is strangled. There cannot be "business as usual" within Israel as long as the Palestinians are denied justice."
Dave called on delegates join the protest and make it clear to shareholders the injustice of perpetuating Israel occupation and apartheid.
"Wood Group should not be playing a role in the denial of Palestinian human rights" slammed Dave.
